Actually there is no definite body regulating the internet per se, however the government of a country can regulate it's internet activities but cannot go beyond there border. The US has ICANN and IETF. of which they are a nonprofit private organization, which oversees a number of Internet-related tasks previously performed directly on behalf of the U.S. government by other organizations, notably the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority. So, there is no real body governing the activities of the internet. Like in China, they have censored their internet to a minimum. whereby, one cannot access certain websites.
Yes i think there should be internet censorship on certain matters. Issues like private affairs of people and nudity. The primary objective of the internet should be for the dissemination of information to people not running into there private lives. what people do with their lives is non of the public's concerns unless its going to harm or benefit the masses. Hence, yes i support internet censorship regarding some issues.

In the interest of peace, security and privacy, the internet should definately be censored to a certain degree.

The internet today is our major source of information but there are certain information that are sensitive and should not be released to the public especially if it is in the publics interest not to know. A typical example is the case of "wikileaks" this site releases numerous top secret and sensitive documents to the general public and although as people we have the freedom and the right to know, this same information could be used to cause significant damage to a country or in the case of an individual, their privacy. Therefore, I support internet censorship but only where it matters and is completely necessary and is also in the best intrest of the public

Internet is one of the many media channels that makes the world a "global village", hence as a community we need discipline within ourselves. When internet is censored, it will make a definite demarcation between people's right to know and individual's right to privacy.
It is so true and It has been a problem since the governments don't know what are their rights to censor something that the people might want to know and they should know , but as we see there are a lot of countries who actually make their people see what ever they just want them to see and this is not fair because everyone has a right to know what is happening around the world .
From the knowledge that I have the governments and politicians around world have this power to regulate the Internet and they can just easily control it but there are also a lot of proxies made to break this filters and censors in the Internet but as I saw there are two different ways of having the internet in the countries , one of them is " The Enemies of Internet " and the other one is "Countries Under Surveillance" the first one is the countries such Belarus Burma China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau) Cuba Iran North Korea Saudi Arabia Syria Turkmenistan Uzbekistan Vietnam and these are the ones that control the internet and they will not allow their people to see whatever they want to see , for example In my country ( IRAN ) everything is almost filtered , like you tube, Facebook, and a lot of websites that you cant open and see , this is a way that people cant get information from around the world easily although the people use a lot of proxies but still it's so hard for them to get information , and the interesting point is that USA is sending millions of proxies everyday to countries such Iran as well , but generally I don't agree with the fact of censoring the internet except some of the things that are related to the people's privacy and protect their privacies but in any other way of controlling I don't think It's a good idea tojust get the freedom of having an information or get some knowledge from the people
